All is peaceful in the desert: a jackrabbit sniffs the air, a Gila monster suns itself on a massive rock, and a pair of baby prairie dogs playfully tumble about.

Suddenly — the ground trembles! A brilliant white flash sweeps across the land, obliterating every living thing for miles around! And a glorious, blinding fireball rises into the sky! It looks like a rising sun… the sun of a new age — a magnificent age — the Atomic Age!

Of course, a few pesky critters were vaporized, but that’s the price we must pay to harness the power of the atom! And with this new atomic power comes a new hero — a new defender of American freedom, a new enemy of subversion and juvenile delinquency!
